The vibrant reds and oranges I use tend to represent life, energy and rebirth. Blues and greens often symbolize water, the essential element of life and yin, the cool, calm female side of the universe. Metallic golds, coppers and bronzes evoke the fiery core of earth and the distant lights of the cosmos. Almost all of my paintings incorporate texture. Natural elements such as sand, mica and garnet are fused and enveloped into surfaces. Heavy flows of paint create frozen rivers of color. I like to create paintings with a tactile quality that entices the observer to touch them, to run their fingers over them.
